*Director Network Operations 
Responsibilities

 

This role is responsible for leading and developing the Operations leadership team and is accountable for the operations and maintenance of U.S. Cellular's wireless voice and data network. This individual is also accountable for the key business processes which include and are not limited to asset management to include compliance with SOX initiatives, the development and management of capital and expense budgets, planning, coordination and execution of network enhancements and improvements.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

 •Drive the culture and provide leadership for the Regional Base Station and Regional Switch teams to achieve superior business results


•Maintain, repair, and recover the wireless voice and data network


•Ensures proper tracking, inventorying, and disposal of capital assets per all defined SOX controls


•Ensures the creation of and review of Methods of Procedures (MOPs), After Action Reports (AARs), and Change Managements


•Ensure preventive maintenance procedures and schedules are followed to support the Standard Operating Environment


•Ensure regulatory requirements are met, including OSHA, FAA, EPA, FCC, and others


•Administer and manage U.S. Cellular®’s safety program to ensure associates and company assets are in a safeguarded environment


•Serve as regional operational center chair during large scale network restoral and disaster recovery efforts


•Set vision and strategy for Network Operations organization with an emphasis on building interdepartmental alignment


•Prepare, review, and manage annual Capital and OpEx budgets for the Network Operations department
 

 

Qualifications

•Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline is required, or equivalent experience


•Masters Degree preferred


•Must have 10-12 years experience in wireless telecommunications, data networking, or operations


•Qualified candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience managing technical workgroups


•Prior experience in project management with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks required


•Must possess a proven record of supervising associates and developing their technical and leadership skills


•Extensive knowledge of wireless telephonic communications, digital networks and data networks is required


•Ability to build a cross-functional team is required


•Excellent verbal and written skills are required


•Superior problem solving and analysis skills are required


•Detailed understanding of budget and implementation processes to support capital assets and network operations requirements is necessary
